1979 adaptation of Vera Brittain's autobiography. In 1913, Brittain (Cheryl Campbell) is set to take up a place at Oxford University, but with the outbreak of the Great War instead opts to become a volunteer nurse, working at the Western Front. Here Brittain witnesses the harsh realities of war first hand, undergoing a series of horrific experiences which will have a lasting influence on her life.
