American family drama based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen in which the discovery of a real life mermaid named Elizabeth (Poppy Drayton) prompts young reporter (William Moseley) to investigate the story for himself. Accompanied by his younger sister, Elle (Loreto Peralta), they soon uncover the origin behind the enchanting creature's presence as they learn that the wicked circus wizard is trapping her on the land so that he can obtain her powerful soul. Determined to save her, they must stop the wizard from harming the mermaid, but question everything when they learn there is also something special about young Elle.
