When Ichabod Crane (Mison) and Abraham Van Brunt (Neil Jackson) killed each other on the battlefield in 1781, their blood mixed together creating an eternal connection. More than 230 years later, Van Brunt, now the Headless Horseman (Jeremy Owens), is resurrected by an occult group rooting for evil and this, in turn, causes Ichabod to rise, his blood feeling the pull of his nemesis. In this season, Ichabod awakes to find himself buried in a coffin, his wife Katrina (Katia Winter) has been kidnapped by the Headless Horseman, and Captain Frank Irving (Orlando Jones) is residing behind bars for a crime he did not commit.
