Paolo Sorrentino directs this Italian drama centred on the career of businessman and politician Silvio Berlusconi (Toni Servillo). In order to satisfy his insatiable appetite for power and influence, corrupt businessman Sergio Morra (Riccardo Scamarcio), who manages a group of escorts, moves to Rome to acquaint himself with Berlusconi. Using his business dealings as a means to bribe politicians, Sergio tries to make his way into Berlusconi's inner circle while the former prime minister confronts those trying to replace him at the top of the party and plots another bid to govern the country.
