Annie has always been a capable and opinionated person. At 59 she finds herself free of obligations: her difficult ex-husband has died, she has sold her business, and her children appear to be sorted. Annie has time on her hands. Throwing herself into new friendships, she takes on a mild-mannered widow as a project - her mission to prevent her from pairing up with another septuagenarian. Annie has a much more suitable love interest in mind. Elsewhere in her busy Yorkshire town, life is thrown into disarray when a local friend discovers his biological father is none other than a famous actor and that he's coming to visit. Could this finally be a fitting romantic interest for Annie herself?
